When measuring for jackets, it is best to wear a well fitted shirt. You can use the seams on the shirt as a guide line for the required measurements.
Please remember when measuring the BACK for a Morning coat the skirt (tail) is traditionally knee length.
When measuring for trousers, it is best to wear a comfortable well fitted pair of trousers with shoes, you can use the trousers as a guide line for measurements.
CHEST:
Measure the chest around the fullest part, placing the tape close under the arms making sure the tape is well up at the back over the shoulder blades. |
BACK:
This will give the length of the jacket. Measure the centre back length, taken from the centre of the neck at the collar seam to the hem. |
ARM OUTSIDE:
Two measurements are required. The Measurement from the top of the arm / sleeve down the outer sleeve to the cuff edge. |
ARM INSIDE:
The second measurement is taken from under the arm to the cuff. |
SHOULDERS:
Measure the widest part of the shoulders. |
WAIST:
Measure around the natural waistline over any under garments which may be worn. |
HIPS / Seat:
Measure at the widest part. |
OUTSIDE LEG:
Measure from the natural waistline to the hem. |
INSIDE LEG:
Measure from the top of the inside leg at the crutch to the hem. |
THIGH:
Measure the widest part of the thigh, (between the hip and the knee). |
LEG OPENING:
The leg opening at the bottom of the trouser. |
FULL HEIGHT:
Measure from the floor to the top of the head. |
